site plan

The basic idea here is generally correct but many additions and improvements are still to be documented.

"HELP! ... I'm lost." (add navigation frame)

If the site is coming through the way it's intended, the screen will normally be divided into four parts by frames. All the way across the top is a narrow band with links to the main divisions of the site. Just now there are three, Home, Gallery & Magic. In the Home section are pages of general info, who we are how to contact us etc. The Gallery is an attempt to show in an organized general way the variety of pieces we can make. The Magic section is our attempt to convey the aesthetic impetus of the work. Each of these sections also has a "Home" page.

Under the top links frame on the right is another narrow band of links to pages in the particular section currently being viewed. At the top of this is a small frame saying which section that is. These should change if the main section changes.

The main content pages are displayed in a large section in the lower left of the screen. These are frequently divided by a table into a picture section and a text section. At the bottom somewhere is an "escape link" back to the starting page with all the frames, in case a search engine has linked to a content page bypassing the navigation frames. No provision is currently made for viewers not using frames.

Beyond the frames and the colors, this website generally makes little attempt to control how it's viewed. Screen resolution and text size have a big effect. It is designed in 1280 x 1024 resolution and at either the medium or larger (InternetExplorer) text setting.
