Note ... All the pieces in this section have been sold and most of the prices, where they are included, would be substantially higher now. Due to the way these pictures were created, editting out the prices is difficult. Please forgive the inaccuracies. Didn't plan far enough ahead I guess ... Wayne '07

Notes on Magic

The magic in the jewelry comes from the practice. Practice in the sense of monk, fakir or marathon runner.

I am not a designer. I know I am at least an artisan. I believe I am an actual artist. I aspire to be a wizard. I wouldn't refuse to be a demi-god except I think you gotta be dead. I am not a designer.

Practice is self-conscious, routine, physical activity leading to enlightenment. These amulets embody the spirit of the quest: the poems embody the thought.

A picture of the practice of stone polishing and a picture of dawn over the back yard, with streetlight, power lines & window reflection and still with some magic. And a picture of one of the informal shrines in the studio. While polishing, I was listening to The Incas: inside an American empire by Terence N. D'Altroy, on Recorded Books. That's how Tears of the Moon, which is how the Incas referred to silver, came to me. This shrine is in the area mainly devoted to lapidary, hence the jars with stones in progress and the dop stick blocks and the list of stones to saw. The quote should maybe be in the metalworking area but this wall space was more convenient.
